Learner Experience Research
Overview
Migrating the concept of User Experience, my team is trying to better understand the experience of our target leaners. My responsibility in this project is to develop two user personas for our internal learners. I collected my data through interviews with a software development manager and an UX intern at Hobsons. The interview questions were developed based upon the recommended questions for learning needs assessment from Deborah Tobey's "Needs Assessment Basics” and revised according the requirements of the product knowledge and enablement team.

The first section presents the details of the interview, and the second section are the user personas. For privacy purpose, the names of the interviewees are hided yet their photos are collected from their LinkedIn profile and used in the persona profile. I would like to express my appreciation for their time and supports. I would also like to thank my team mate Amber for helping me connect with them. A big thanks to Kristy Cunninghum from the UX design team at Hobsons, who demonstrated the process of user experience research and her sample user personas.

Data collection-- Interview
Objectives:
The purpose of the interview is to assess the needs of employee product trainings, and to develop user personas for learner experience research and design.

Target Interviewees:
-
Manager/someone who has already been working on the position for a long time—high-end learner who already have good knowledge about the product, working processes, and required and current knowledge, skills, and performances.

New employees—low-end learner who do not have good knowledge about the product and working processes

By interviewing the learners from the two extremes, learners in the middle level could be satisfied.
